What is Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner
Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner is a fully approved, highly advanced aerospace cleaner, specifically designed to provide corrosion inhibition whilst cleaning. It is cutting edge colloidal technology. It is not a conventional detergent or surfactant based cleaning product.
What does it do
The Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner chemistry makes it rugged enough for cleaning stubborn grime like turbine exhaust stains, yet gentle enough for cleaning carpets, upholstery and plastics.
Due to its formulation it will not remove grease from bearings, bushes or rod ends. Furthermore, not only is Zi-400 non corrosive, the formulation actually has anti-corrosive properties, a unique attribute that no other cleaning product can offer.
Aviation Market Leader
Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner is tested and conforms to stringent international military and civilian aerospace standards. The combined cleaning and corrosion inhibiting abilities of Zi-400 have made it the market leader and industry benchmark throughout the entire aviation sector from ultra-lights and recreational aircraft to the heaviest military and commercial airliners, even the space shuttle!
Since 1993 ZI-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner has become an integral component in the corrosion control program developed by the Royal Australian Air Force for its aircraft fleet.
In 1997, Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner was also chosen by the United Space Alliance (NASA's ground operations arm) for use on the space shuttle fleet.

Where can it be used
Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner is recommended for all aspects of airframe washing and is highly effective for removing exhaust deposits and staining from unpainted and painted surfaces.
What's more, any aircraft surface that tolerates water, both interior and exterior, such as aluminium, titanium, magnesium, chrome-molly, stainless steel, painted & polished surfaces, fabric, composite, acrylic, plastic, glass, ceramic, leather and carpet can safely be cleaned with Zi-400.
Cost Effective
Due to Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner being such a highly concentrated product, it may be diluted through a wide range of ratios to suit the particular task at hand. This and the fact that it is physically different to conventional soap or detergents, means that Zi-400 can often replace a number of different cleaning products, reducing inventory, thus making it highly cost effective. These factors can add up to substantial cost savings.
How do I use it
It is suitable for any form of application used in aircraft cleaning, from the traditional bucket and brush, cloth or sponge through to foaming wands, spray equipment and dip tanks.
NOTE:
Agitation of the area is essential. The use of water at elevated temperatures will usually assist the cleaning action. Apply and allow a dwell or 'sit' time to obtain the best results. Read more about how colloidal cleaners work.
Unlike surfactant based cleaners Zi-400 leaves no residue or build up on the surface, even with frequent use.
Pressure cleaners are not suitable for use on aircraft. Read about the correct way to wash an aircraft.
Zi-400 Suggested Dilution ratios
Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner is a concentrated product which is diluted in water before use. The following dilutions should be used as a reference point and guide when cleaning. You may vary these to suit your particular application, equipment and requirement.
| Aircraft exterior applications | |
| Type of usage | Zi-400 : Water |
|---|---|
| Light soils | 1 : 30-40 |
| Moderate soils | 1 : 32 |
| Heavy soils | 1 : 5-10 |
| Aircraft interior applications | |
| Carpet & upholstery spotting,galley surfaces, plastics | 1 : 32 |
| Carpet cleaning | 1 : 80 |
| Glass, mirrors, acrylic windows | 1 : 100 |
NOTE:
Zi-400 Aircraft Colloidal Cleaner is completely effective in any type of water. Unlike soap or detergents it works equally well in soft or hard water.
Biodegradable, Water Based, Environmentally friendly
Zi-400 is non-toxic and non-hazardous. It complies with the requirements of WorkSafe Australia for non-hazardous substances/solutions. It does not have special requirements for handling or storage.
Zi-400 is non-flammable, low-foaming, non-fuming and non-corrosive. In fact, it has anti-corrosive properties.
Zi-400 does not contain any solvents, bleaches, petrochemical ingredients, alcohol, ammonia, volatile organics, or halogens.
Zi-400 is biodegradable. It degrades into environmentally safe basic elemental forms (e.g. carbon, nitrogen) and leaves no artificial or synthesised compounds to burden the ecosystem. Nor does it contain phosphates that contribute to unnatural algal growth. This makes it ideally suited for use with septic tanks, waste water treatment systems and all water recycling/reuse plants.
How/Where do I store Zi-400
There are no special storage requirements for Zi-400.
